A Rescue Dog’s Prayer

Dear God,
Please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair
My body is aching, it's so racked with pain
And dear God, I pray as I run in the rain
That someone will love me and give me a home
A warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone

My last owner tied me all day in the yard
Sometimes with no water and God, that was hard!
So I chewed my leash God and I ran away
To rummage in garbage and lie as a stray

But now God, I'm tired and hungry and cold
And I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old
They've chased me with sticks, hit me with stones
While I run the streets just looking for bones!

I'm not really bad God, please help if you can
For I have become just a "victim of man!"
I'm wormy dear God and I'm ridden with fleas
And all that I want is an owner to please!

If you find one for me God,, Ill try to be good
I won't chew their shoes and I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, protect them and try to obey
When they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!

I don't think I'll make it too long on my own
Cause I'm getting so weak and I'm, Oh so alone
Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry
Cause I'm so afraid God, that I'm gonna die!

I've got so much love and devotion to give
That I should be given a new chance to live.
So dear God please, please answer my prayer
And send me somebody who will really care.

Who We Are

The Fayette SPCA is a non-profit organization created exclusively for charitable and educational purposes including the prevention of cruelty to animals. Our main goals are to care for and shelter homeless animals, relieve the suffering among animals from any source, provide humane education, and to enforce the Animal Protection Laws of Pennsylvania.

Adopting a friend

Bringing a pet home will involve a lifestyle change, and a noticable one at that. Considering that this pet may be a part of your family for approximately the next 10 to 20 years, the decision to adopt a companion animal should be well thought out ... not an impulsive decision.

We want the smoothest transition and positive outcome for both the animal and the adoptive family, so we have set forth the following guidelines for Fayette SPCA adoptions:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt an animal.
  • All family members are in agreement about the adoption.
  • You are not adopting the animal for someone else or as a gift.
  • If you currently have pets, you must currently have a veterinarian and provide us their phone number.
  • If you rent you need to have the written approval of your landlord stating that you can have the pet.
  • Dog adoption fees begin at $100 and up, depending on the dog, of which you get $30 back after you provide a veterinarian certificate that the dog has been spayed or neutered, if it has not already been done prior to adoption. All animals leaving the shelter must be spayed or neutered. Adopters must sign a legally binding contract stating that spaying or neutering will be done within the timeframe set forth by the Fayette SPCA. Failure to have the pet spayed or neutered can result in confiscation of the pet and possible prosecution by the Fayette SPCA.
  • The Fayette SPCA reserves the right to refuse any adoption for any reason them deem feasible.
You can expedite your adoption process by downloading and completing our ADOPTION AGREEMENT and SPAY/NEUTER AGREEMENT prior to coming into the shelter.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

We make every effort to adopt out only healthy animals. Since the medical history of most of the animals brought to animal shelters is incomplete, your new pet may have an illness that is in the incubation stage, or a condition that has not yet shown any obvious symptoms. For that reason, adopters are urged to take their new pets to a veterinarian within three working days to make sure all is well. The Fayette SPCA does not guarantee the health, disposition, breed, or adult size of any animal adopted from this facility. The Fayette SPCA is NOT responsible for ANY medical fees incurred after the adoption date. That being said, The Fayette SPCA does do all it can to make sure its pets are healthy and well cared for.

Adopted pets' vaccination(s) and test records vary due to each animal's individual history, age, length of time at the shelter, etc.

Gracie (33967)

is our Dog of the Month.

This sweet Boxer mix girl was found as a stray, and it was very evident that she had recently delivered a litter of pups, as her milk was still flowing very freely and causing her much discomfort. Unfortunately, when we found her, we couldn't find the pups anywhere. Gracie (33967) has come a long way since that time. She is such a sweet, loving girl, although a bit shy. We can't understand why she keeps being passed over as the perfect companion and family pet, as you can see from her photo, she's full of personality and playfulness. She's all ready for her new furever home. Gracie (33967) is up to date on her shots and is patiently waiting for that perfect someone who will love her furever.

Are you that special person ? Please come and meet Gracie (33967) today ........ What are you waiting for?

EXCITING NEWS

The Fayette SPCA and Animal Friends of Pittsburgh are partnering to offer residents of Fayette County a MOBILE RESOURCE CENTER LOW-COST CAT SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM.

Animal Friends has introduced a new clinic -- the only one of its kind in the Pittsburgh area -- to fight pet overpopulation. The mobile clinic is a fully operational operating room, manned with a spay-and-neuter veterinarian and staff. The cats will be held in cages built into the vehicle's interior before vet technicians administer anesthesia. Once an animal is sedated, it will be moved to the lone surgery table. Recovery will take place inside the partner shelter

Our next clinic is not scheduled yet, but will be posted here soon, so please keep watching for updates!

To be eligible for this program, you must provide proof that your annual household income is under $42,000 per year. The cost per cat, once you're determined income eligible, is $35.00. This fee covers the spay/neuter, vaccination for rabies if needed, check for ear mites and fleas, and, if necessary, receive prevention medication. All eligible clients must also sign a copy of a waiver before surgery will be performed. They can perform spay surgery on cats that are in heat or pregnant at no additional charge.

To be eligible, you must complete 3 forms, all of which you can download:
